Guarding the Good: The Principles of Philippians 4:8
This workshop dissects the qualities of Philippians 4:8 and looks at how to use those "good" qualities for analyzing the world around us, concluding with the chance to practically apply those principles to a real a picture book.

Life in the Twilight Zone: Dealing with Gray Areas
This workshop addresses why gray areas exist, how we deal with those gray areas, and an overview for developing discernment. ​

One-Hour Workshops: Media & Discernment

The Other Side: Broadening Perspectives through Secular Media
This workshop steps through the advantages of secular media, guidelines of handling secular media, and the methods for unraveling the heart of secular media with time for discussion and a chance to practically apply what is taught to a piece of media.

Practical Discernment: Ten Questions to Ask about the Fictitious
This workshop provides ten questions and their significance, which you can ask about any story (fiction, nonfiction, film, book) to help develop discernment in yourself and your child. 

Fifty Flavors of Fiction: Understanding Literary Genres
This workshop defines the ten most common genres of fiction, providing the dangers , the purpose, and the advantages of reading each genre. 

Why Fiction, Why Speculative?
This workshop offers a defense of why we need to enjoy fiction and especially the importance of the oft-doubted genres of science fiction and fantasy

Writing Workshops & Seminars:

Bearing the Sword: An Overview
This class for teens and adults offers a compressed look at the material found in the Bearing the Sword curriculum. Depending on the length, this seminar can cover the necessity of discernment; what makes good, good; a dissection of Philippians 4:8's qualities; the effects of maturity on discernment; and handling personal limitations, with plenty of media clips for discussion and practical application.

This one-hour workshop defines the two main different types of Christian fiction and then helps students to figure out how that applies to their own writing.

Story's Structure: An Overview
This multi-hour seminar provides an overview of the basic building blocks of writing good fiction as well as a look at what defines Christian fiction and how our Christian faith should affect what we write.
