I am a Christian.
I am a novelist and a reader of fiction.
Sometimes that's not a problem. But often it is, and I find myself caught in the middle of a highwire tug-of-war.
So how can I maintain my balance between faith and fiction?
How can anyone?
That's what I want to find out. So I write, often posting on my blog, Imagination Investigation, my musings or just looking for answers.
But merely writing about faith and fiction turned out not to be enough for me. So each spring, I take my love and my ideas on the road, visiting two to three home educator conferences. There I serve as the vendor "Imagination Investigation," promoting the best of Christian fiction--especially in the science fiction and fantasy genres--as well as the resources I've developed to help parents help their kids navigate media with discernment. (For more on those resources, see my nonfiction.) Sometimes I even teach a workshop on fiction, media, and discernment.
Of course I don't know everything. Perhaps you've learned a trick or two along the way. But together I bet we can figure this out. So come! I would love to talk with you. Find me at one of those homeschool conferences, stop by my blog, www.chawnaschroeder.blogspot.com, or invite me to teach a workshop/seminar on fiction and discernment at your church or co-op by contacting me at imaginationinvestigation at yahoo dot com.
